Default A Smart Watch thread this time

A while back I impulse ordered a Pebble Smart watch. Kinda forgot about it but it has just been dispatched, so hopefully here this week.

Not really sure what to expect, but I am guessing that Smart watches will be the next phone related gadget to take off. It looks ok and has decent intergration with a number of apps. I am sure the big brands will gobble up this market soon enough, but I am happy to support a new tech company and for $150, a bargain.

I'm still sticking with my words by saying that these smart watches won't take off. Tacky, ridiculous and geeky sums them up pretty well.

85000 people backed them on Kickstarter and they had 275,000 pre orders before release. ok, not massive figures, but certainly going the right direction.

Tacky and geeky, fair enough, its your opinion, but I when did this ever stop a product selling?

When they become a bit smaller and the novelty of them being geeky wears off, everyone will be wearing them and think it's normal.

I'm sure some people thought mobile phones wouldn't take off when you had to carry a car battery attached to a BT handset.

Bravo for being an early adopter, I'm sure it will be a great product.

I'm looking out for a better sensing device, more Nike Fuel than Pebble. I won't stop wearing a watch so just need the smart.

I am a kick starter member for the Omate. I chose the Omate over the others as it had a greater battery life and full independence from the phone if needs be. I'll be getting mine in late November😊 I ordered more storage and rooted.

These look pretty cool, but why do I need one, or am I missing something? You still need to carry your phone around so why the watch?

Yeah cool, another gadget to plug in and charge then throw away once the battery dies

Just because you are too lazy to look at your phone.

You look silly enough holding your Phablet to your ear, let alone an iPad. I'm with O2 so use Tu-Go on my iPad if I have to.
