Which Tablet
Which Tablet?
Main use will be:
• Games for the kids
• Watching movies on the go (kids) avi format mainly
• Ebay \ Facebook \ Browsing
• Exchange Emails \ Calendar
All the below are costing near the same. Nexus 7 or Tab3 8”
Points:
• Nexus has a smaller screen
• Nexus has a faster (cpu and memory)
• Nexus has a newer OS then the Samsung (is it any different from Samsung version)
• Samsung can take external memory card
Can I use Google chrome brower on both devices? As it will be handy to sync my book mark?

I have a nexus 7 and I'm not overly impressed. Great for Real Racing but crap for internet browsing. I have also used various iPads but every time I go back to my old asus netbook, I do wonder what the fuss is all about.
I know I have never been a follower of fashion but I really do feel like the only person in the world that thinks tablets are step back from the netbook as an internet browser.

Samsung galaxy tab was great! I had the 10.1 inch would play anything I put on it and the battery was good! They do a smaller screen 7inch I think too! If it's in the budget I would go for that! I mainly used it as a satnav and movies for the kids on the go! Internet browsing is easy, can be used with flash player, not like iPads/iPhones where sometimes you can't use a page due to flash needed!

I still use my old Galaxy Tab 10.1 but if I was in the market for one I'd go for one of these if you are to get one from PC World:

Otherwise I'd go for the Nexus 10

I picked up the new Nexus 7 32gb yesterday - it was crashing at first, but after the update it has been fine..
its is allot more responsive then my brother Samsung Tab 2 that he got free yesterday (when buying a washing machine) i now know why it was free...lol
i like it...its new, easy to use..and does not hurt my eyes..
i think i will also be investing in a Nexus 4 phone...Moving on from the world of Iphones \ Ipads..

Tablets are the biggest gimmick ever, they failed abysmally until Apple launched one and then isheep and fandroids went tablet crazy for them.
Without a keyboard and stand case they are pure gimmick and barely better than a decent size smartphone, and once you add the keyboard and stand case you may as well have a netbook. The storage is utterly crap, see how many decent quality movies you can store on your tablet before the memory is gone, then try a netbook with an SSD.
Finally, with the netbook you get a PROPER operating system with PROPER websites, not cut down ****ty app versions that restrict what you can do. You get a screen that doesn't end up smeared with greasy fingerprints all the time.
The only decent Tablets I have used are the HP Envy X2 and the Samsung ATIV's.
The Samsung XE700 is really really good, but then they are 800-1000 notes.
Quite simply, a tablet is a dumbed down netbook, or an oversized smartphone

I have things like a coffee table, kitchen work top or even the floor. The netbook works fine with all of these.
Yes I know you can get cases that act as stands for tablets but let's be honest, they are ****e.
And as for internet browsing, no. I prefer the netbook every time.
If I am out and about, I use my phone.
I don't go out to use a computer.

Laptop for me always wins, but I find the tablet very convenient and quick for browsing the net.

lol had several netbooks and 11.6" laptops and once I had my ipad there was no going back to a netbook. Lucky to get 4 hours out of a netbook and get 10 out the ipad, browsing is no issue at all and the apps are great. Space isn't an issue, I got the 64gb model and it's got so much stuff on it and still loads of space. I bought a Nexus 7 as well just for android experience and I never use it as it's crap compared to the ipad. Only thing I use it for is text editing as android has better integration for text editing and saving to Dropbox etc.

Wife has a Nexus 7 and its been fine but I think it is a bit small.
If it hasn't been used for a while it can take a bit of coaxing to start charging - think its a common issue.

Good thing about tablets in my opinion is that it has forced developers back to small efficient applications. Not the bloated, inefficient code thrown out to the marketplace which runs ok because the machine it runs on has oodles of RAM, disk space and processing power available to it.
BTW Nexus 7 is a good tablet, tablets have their place and fulfil a purpose, I have one, but also return to my netbook, laptops, and desktop machine depending on what I need to do.
