New to Laptops..need advice on buying first one
Hi guys,
Iv been using destkop pc's for years, and never thought about a laptop, however, I have just moved to digital DJ'ing and have secured my first gig, so ideally need to buy a laptop for transport reasons.
The laptop will be used purely for the DJ software (Tracktor Pro 2), DJ Controller (USB), MP3s, and browsing the internet.
I have spent some time looking, but have no idea exactly what im looking for (sooooo many choices). It does need to have a decent sound card, and graphics (from what iv read on the Traktor forums), and obviously a decent size HD.
The only thing I have to work off is the spec off the Traktor web site:
Windows 7 or 8 (latest Service Pack, 32/64 Bit), 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon 64 X2, 2 GB RAM (4 GB recommended)
My budget is between £300-£400, obviously want the best I can get for that price range, and hopefully be more than enough for the specs above.
Many thanks for your help.

Sound wise, you're better off using an external sound card. You're unlikely to find a laptop with a multichannel sound card built in. I still use a Numark DJ|iO with mine and Traktor, but there are better out there now.
In a live context you really need to make sure you have a solid state drive and also as much RAM as possible. A 17"+ screen is a must too if you're not going to be using external.

I use a USB audio card or you won't be able to monitor the next track.
I use traktor on the MacBook Pro but I hdmi the screen the a tv.
Also you need to create an aggregate device on the mac for the sound card

Sounds complex. I plug the controller direct to the usb on my desktop pc, then plug the audio on the controller direct to the amp. This works fine for me.
Is this not the case on a mac or laptop?

there are a lot of cheap ones around at the minute from the currys pcworld places, but beware of the build quality. they have a good sounding spec but in reality have a keyboard that flexes when you press the keys. also look at getting one without a dvd drive, they take away the stability of the case and as your going to be gigging it you need a decent case and something to put it in.

Thanks guys.
I went for the ACER V5-571P after seeing it in Currys/PC World. Its solid from what iv used of it, runs extremely quick, and has plenty of hard drive space and ram (1tb and 8gb)
Thanks for the advice and help.
