"Appalling spec for the cash, but its an apple of course"

Hardly. Show me a laptop case of Apple spec for less money. Also show me the level of service and support and put a price on it. Another product having bigger numbers for less cash doesn't make the Macbook Appalling.

If you're desperate for an old mac you might as well go for a refurb from apple themselves!

Played with a friends MBP 14 over the weekend. Not a bad bit of kit. Screen was lush.

Quite a lot of money for what essentially is an exceptional screen on quite old tech.

I'm waiting for the new gigabyte P35k or the P34G

is the retina display worth the premium?

I have just bought my daughter the 13" one (non retina) for £860 odd quid

it did seem pricey for the spec, but it does look and feel like a quality bit of kit

with the retina display though - crikey

If you're into photography it's quite likely the best your photos have ever looked. I used one for a week, took another week to get used to my own.
