Ubuntu command line privilege
I have Ubuntu 10.04 with LinuxCNC and all is installed. I'm using a PCI parallel port which I need to install drivers for which are on a CD and there are instructions, but I cannot copy the install to where I want it (I temporarily put it in Home/banks/documents/temp I think) or run the install script because of privileges.
Is there a simple way to get a terminal window and/or file manager window elevated so that everything that goes through there is administrator privileges? I can use sudo before individual commands, but the commands inside a script or batch file or whatever it is called are not elevated.
The hardware works as the parallel port works in XP with Mach 3, but there was an .exe on the CD to run for the drivers and all worked (ie I could make all three axes move on my new CNC mill) once I found the port address to tell Mach 3.
