iPod classic 6th gen 80gb questions
My hard disk failed, decided to repair it myself so split the cases and trashed the rear case in the process but it is now in bits awaiting new parts to arrive.
located and ordered a new battery, case, hard disk (exact same model) and hold button so it will be pretty much like new - not interested in buying a new one as it has sentimental value and i use it as my main music source in the car via a Harmon Kardon controllerand works/worked a treat via the hard wired connection.
Questions are really once assembled what do i need to do? Just connect it to iTunes and all is good??? or is it more complex. I understand the drive is completely blank, new fresh from the factory. Does the motherboard retain some software to initiate the drive, i cannot seem to find much info but may be asking the wrong question or worrying about nothing.
I will connect to iTunes via a laptop running windows 7 home premium
Many thanks

Yes, it should just be a case if plugging it into iTunes, it should pick it up and update it to the latest software.
I did replace the drive in my 4th gen iPod classic and that is all I had to do
