Default iPod Classic help please?

Hi,
Bit of a luddite here, but bought an iPod classic a couple of years back pretty much fully loaded, but loads of rubbish on it. Can I clear chunks of it and keep some? And put my music onto it?
I find iTunes totaly confusing and all of my music I have transfered to my comp was ripped with windows media player, nothing is downloaded through iTunes.
Sorry, really dont have a clue what I'm doing with this!!

Thanks
Lee

The way apple works if it's not registered to the computer you are using you will have to clear all the music off it and then upload all the stuff you want.

You don't have to download anything through itunes just have the music on your computer then add it to the music library in itunes.

You don't HAVE to use itunes but it's so much easier to set up with itunes, even if itunes is dreadful.

The trouble I'm having is getting the music I want into the itunes library. And that some of the music that has gotten itno the libry somehow isnt on my comp anymore

Think I've got it sorted now, just a couple of hours of waiting while it transfers. Also been worried that it will duplicate the files onto my comp, as the HD isnt large enough for that.

It will only duplicate it if the file format isn't recognized by itunes. Such as, if it's a .wma then it will convert it but if it's a .mp3 then it will be fine as is.

Best thing would be to do is convert your entire library to mp3 and delete the .wma ones
