Unhappy I will never be able to get a new TV ?!

Trying to decide on what TV to buy is beginning to annoy me now ...lol

Thinking of replacing my Samsung 40inch LCD TV for a 46Inch TV.

Mainly used for my HTPC, SKY HD and XBOX 360 all running through my Denon AVR1910.

I do tend to use my Optoma HD20 projector for Films via BluRay Player, Footy and Gaming on my 92inch Projector Screen. Sometimes though i would like to use the TV, i sit about 8ft away and i am finding 40inch a tad small and i can just about fit in a 46inch tv. My TV aperture is 107cm wide so TV width needs to be smaller than this.

Been looking for a while now and have to say it's now doing my head in.

Budget is around £800

Also just found out i can get Sky 3D free now as part of my Sky Package so i have added that and now need a 3D TV to go with it.

Is it a good time to buy at the moment with New ranges coming out?? I visited currys the weekend to do the normal lets have a look and get it cheaper else where, but all they had was lots of sale TV's and empty stands awaiting all the new ranges???

The neckbeards on AV Forums doing your head in yet then? hahahahaha

You would *never* buy a TV again if you listened to the minutiae of reasons why you shouldn't buy X over Y on there.....

I went round and round in circles reading reviews and comparing specs. Nothings perfect, so I'd just pick the one you're most happy with.

As above really, just buy the best you can afford and that fits the bill for what you want. According to AVForums and the likes all new TVs have some issue or other that "ruins" the viewing experience.

Supposedly the Panny plasma I have has a few known issues but I suspect unless you went looking for them (which I won't) you'll be none the wiser. For me the picture is stunning

Also the argument against not buying now because OLED or 4kHD or whatever else is around the corner is pointless. This will always be the case. I suspect if you're that keen on having the latest tech. then you'll be buying a new TV every five years or so anyway.

Yes, I do. I use my PS3 on it to play games and Blu Rays.

The only time I had any lag was with Rocksmith, where you plug a real guitar into the console, I needed to make a small adjustment to compensate. That's a very special case though (a Rocksmith issue rather than the TV) and I've not experienced anything other than buttery smooth motion and response on anything else Great 3D playback too.

Thanks for that i will have to look at the SAMSUNG UE46ES6300 in a bit more detail.

Currently £699 at Currys......

Only downside is it's active 3D not passive....but that's not a show stopper

Just bought a Samsung ue40f6500 3d smart active for 779.98 (including a pair of Bluetooth 3d glasses) 5 year warranty from costco.

nowhere else came close on price.

Its a brand new model so almost no reviews out yet but so far its been superb haven't really touched the 3d yet but it paired straightaway with the misses galaxy note 10.1
and my s3.

all the 46 inchers seem to be a grand plus

Am I the only one amazed that in over ten years and only 15 posts, you are the longest standing lurker I have ever witnessed on this forum. If it's taken this long to get 15 posts up, I'm not surprised it's taking you an age to decide on a TV!!

Wow here is a thread that could go on for years. I really does boil down to personal preference. One this i will chip in on is that i have owned both passive and active 3D. IMHO passive is way better and easier to watch.

Gone are the days where you just go and get a TV and judge it only on its apperance.

Now you have to consider all manner of things.....lol

3D or not
Smart TV or Not
Is it good for Gaming
Is it good for watching Fast moving Sports
Is it good for Movies
Does it have clouding or Banding, bleeding
Does it come with any 3D glasses
Is it thin enough
Is it reflective
What is the Smart TV functions like and are they fast enough
How black are the blacks

And so on....

AArrggghhh does my head in

I think i am just going to order one and be done with it.

That's what I bought today. Not full 1080 sadly but the picture and sound are as good as I'll need it for and it was less than £400 for a 42".
