Its an added file in your sys ini or startup script if i recall, its usually a garbage name so stands out,

another way round itr is to log in with another account, as it only affects the one account thats running at the time.

its a grade A scam BTW

my niece got hit with it the other day, and she's in Oz lol

Easiest way to remove it is to simply hold power button until it shuts down. Reboot in safe mode with network. Download malwarebytes. Run it and then follow onscreen instructions to remove infection. It will automatically reboot.

My mum called up with this the other day. Safe mode network same issue. Safe mode with command prompt ok. Well hidden as no stand out items in boot list. Did a restore and gone. Downloaded spybot search & destroy for her and all good.

Was more concerning that when typing a URL in IE Anne Summers came up....not a mental picture I wanted tbh.

spybot search & destroy dude look at the latest definition update date

spybot search & destroy is well past its sell by date - those definitions havent been updated in years (the update still runs though)

I just did, and the definitions are 10 April 2013. Are you running an up to date version of the prog itself?

You have to give them credit, it's very cleverly done, took me about 15 minutes to get round it.

I just removed this from a guy at work's computer, safe mode with networking, system restore, scan with malaware bytes. Job done.

The amount of absolute crap i.e toolbars, downloaders, players etc that some people install on their PC's isn't for real. The amount of startup items on this one alone was about 40.
