It opens your phone to anything, a lot like everyone having no front door key, not a great idea. It used to be very popular due to free access to stolen software, but that either doesn't appeal or doesn't work any more. But, you can make your phone light up like a disco, whilst farting and playing ****.

I had two reasons to jailbreak my phone a while ago. The first was to use sbssettings to allow one touch enable and disable of Bluetooth as that setting was slightly burried. It is better in iOS 6 however. The other reason was to unlock my phone as it was locked to a carrier who would not unlock it until my contract had run its course and I wished to use my phone in the UK when visiting ( I would have used a payg sim ). As the phone is out of contract it has been unlocked so I do not need to do that.
Just because you jb your device it does not make you a pirate, as some seem to think.

I had mine jailbroken for a while, but when they took away the sky player and other stuff I mostly use on my phone then it had to go all because they don't want you watching sky through your phone on a tv out app! Madness if you ask me, I pay for sky, I pay for my phone, it should surely be MY choice if I jail break it or not, i waver my right to warranty obviously but again that's my choice so why stop services I use just because its jailbroken? They don't stop any services on a laptop with tv out function so what's the difference on a phone

Currently on iOS 5.0.1 JB on a 3GS.
Have not got a laptop or pc. Pretty much everything I want is on the phone. (using all 16b)
Don't want to lose everything again, but is it possible to JB up to 6.1 without losing everything and without a computer...
Like the 1st JB's where you just swiped the screen and hey presto it was done...
Although I've had the JB for ages, I've had to learn most myself with losing loads of pics etc I really wanted. When I look at settings it wants me to connect to my mates pc over a wifi to back up.... Does this also mean he gets to see everything that's on my phone???
Passwords, accounts, emails etc????

i dont jailbreak for free apps
i use it for sbsettings, and tweaks,
id like to be able to easily change my ring tone on txt alert without having to pay for it, just restricts the grip apple have on your phone, makes it such a better product.
