Any Linux & Logitech mouse gurus out there ?

Anyone know how to make the side button on Logitech MouseMan Wheel
work just like pressing the wheel itself in X/GNOME (i.e. X mouse
button 2) ? Everything else works, including the wheel but how do
I map the side button to same functionality as the "wheel button" ?
Yes I know I could read the manuals but maybe someone knows this
already.
Environment: RedHat 7.3 and trying to get mouse behaviour the way
I want it with Mozilla 1.0rc2.
