It's all very nice and I have downloaded it etc but I bet it will eat data and will require 3g connectivity which to me it utterly pointless. I use Navfree which is a fully functional navigation app and works a treat with all maps stored locally on the device. Can't see why anyone would use Google maps eating their data when you can have a locally held copy of maps which really is up their with TomTom but free!

I'm all good, forced myself not to look online for a few days and got a job done.
Google Maps now looks a bit **** compared to Apple Maps, what a turn around. I will however use it to get a bus - never - and to see my neighbours dog - never.

Sorry Jack, I'm an apple fan too. I have an iPhone 4S and and IPad 2 but I have to say Google maps is far better than apples offering. I've relegated the apple maps to the back of my pages of apps and google maps is my to to app again.
Nav free is far better as a sat nav though.

Apple maps have been not only accurate but also a pleasure to use. Of course this may vary as it does with Google maps depending on where you live. You've obviously been sucked in by the anti-apple marketing department.

10 million downloads in 48hrs, the fanboys were clearly crying out for it, confidence has now been restored to the iPhone in one fell swoop thanks to Google, that's 10 million potential lives saved! Still won't stop their decline though.

I haven't. Google Maps might come out when I need a different feature. Apple maps is more than good enough for me, but you never know when you might have to join the Android crowd on the bus.
