Jack is awfully quiet as of late. :D

Ant 13 December 2012 10:59 AM

Much needed app for some. I'm not a big maps user.

chrisowe 13 December 2012 07:39 PM

Includes turn by turn voice navigation for IP4 users.

It's all very nice and I have downloaded it etc but I bet it will eat data and will require 3g connectivity which to me it utterly pointless. I use Navfree which is a fully functional navigation app and works a treat with all maps stored locally on the device. Can't see why anyone would use Google maps eating their data when you can have a locally held copy of maps which really is up their with TomTom but free!

john banks 14 December 2012 01:21 PM

Great tip, thanks.

I'm all good, forced myself not to look online for a few days and got a job done.

Google Maps now looks a bit **** compared to Apple Maps, what a turn around. I will however use it to get a bus - never - and to see my neighbours dog - never.

Jamescsti 16 December 2012 03:19 PM

Sorry Jack, I'm an apple fan too. I have an iPhone 4S and and IPad 2 but I have to say Google maps is far better than apples offering. I've relegated the apple maps to the back of my pages of apps and google maps is my to to app again.

Nav free is far better as a sat nav though.

JackClark 16 December 2012 08:05 PM

It will depend greatly on what you use maps for and where.

Think I'd put up with the **** look seeing as it's the one where the maps actually bear resemblance to reality :lol1:

Whilst you were reading Gawker Apple were updating maps, they still are, amazing progress.

Carlh 17 December 2012 09:13 AM

apple maps :lol1:

An0n0m0us 17 December 2012 09:16 AM

As an ipad and iphone user I won't bother with Apple maps, not for a long time at least. No point when I have Google maps and Navfree for navigation.

Over 10 million Google maps downloads to ios devices in 48 hours. It is the best, so not that surprising!

Have you tried it? It might be a popular download but it looks like a Web App, like the Android version. Not great.

well at least it works, rather than sending you into the middle of knowhere and prob to your death,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

always prefered the content to be correct rather than just look good, but that sums up apple,,,,,,,,,, :lol1::lol1::lol1::lol1:

Apple maps have been not only accurate but also a pleasure to use. Of course this may vary as it does with Google maps depending on where you live. You've obviously been sucked in by the anti-apple marketing department.

10 million downloads in 48hrs, the fanboys were clearly crying out for it, confidence has now been restored to the iPhone in one fell swoop thanks to Google, that's 10 million potential lives saved! Still won't stop their decline though. :D

accurate to within 60 miles,,,,:thumb::thumb::thumb:

you havn't bought into the apple cover up marketing department have you?

JackClark 18 December 2012 02:06 PM

Count me into that 10 million. That's ten million of us that have not one but two great navigation apps. Thanks Apple.

Tidgy 18 December 2012 02:16 PM

how can it be a great app if you have downloaded another one to do its job?

JackClark 18 December 2012 02:53 PM

I haven't. Google Maps might come out when I need a different feature. Apple maps is more than good enough for me, but you never know when you might have to join the Android crowd on the bus.

Tidgy 18 December 2012 03:18 PM

so google maps is pointless to have if ios maps are that good, that doesn't make sence?

are you trying to hide that the ios maps just dont do the job?

What? Like to actually get to the place you want to get to rather than just within the nearest 100 square kilometres :lol1::lol1::lol1:
