Default scruples question...

So, i complained to amazon for a kindle not turning up within a week when it was supposed to be 'next day'. And they courier'd me another one - zero charge.

they both turned up today!

i've switched on one, it seems to be registered against my amazon account already, but i see i can de-register it. it went through these settings before i got to the screen for airplane mode, etc.

the other one is inert in its box.

the question is, if i switch on the second one, will it alert amazon it exists? at which point (they asked me to send the first one back, unopened, if it turns up), they charge me for the second one. they are 3G too, so i can't just stay off the wifi if it decides it's a 'talker'.

so, scruples in the bin, how do i keep them both without amazon knowing? (the second one won't touch the 'net at all, if we get past the initial don't tell amazon bit)

So let me get this straight. You're asking us to help you break the law?

Amazon sent my HD camcorder by first class parcel post i.e. not even signed for. Could have easily claimed that hadn't arrived but obviously didn't. I'd tell them the second one turned up and offer to send it back. Amazon are a pretty good retailer especially when it comes to returns etc. May as well be a good customer

You'll be forever racked with guilt knowing that Amazon could tap you on the Ebook at any time. Get them to collect it, it might be more trouble than it's worth.

Wife ordered something (think that was from Amazon too) and the delivery driver had just left it lent up against our front door!

I'm with everyone else, I'd return it.
