Im after a laptop for around £1k -£1300. I found made by Hewlett Packard. But is this a good make for Laptops? What company makes the best laptops?

The spec is:
1.2 GHz, 256 MB RAM, DVD and CD writer, 20GB hard drive, S3 savage AGPx4 3D graphic card. All for £1200. Is this good?

comes with Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Operating System and Microsoft WorkSuite 2001.

I really want a laptop with a 3D graphic card, atleast 32MB so I can play games at work. And a TV out put or atleast an extra I can buy to make it connect to the TV. Unfortunately this model doesn't have that.

This deal is from PC world, which I always thought were expensive but i cant find this model anywhere cheaper on the internet.

Just found a deal from buyalifebook.co.uk for a Fujitsu Siemens Laptop with the same spec as above for £1149. Which ones better? Fujitsu siemens or Hewlett Packard?

Some quotes from Fujitsu Siemens....

* FSC is Intel and Microsofts largest customer in Europe
* 88% of the materials used in FSC PCs are recycled
* FSC manufactures the worlds most secure notebook with smartcard/fingerprint access, single sign-on and security panels that use PIN-code protection

I know which i would buy (yes i know i am biased !!)

I use a Fujitsu Siemens laptop every day. I am a little biased as we are a (major) reseller. However we only resell the kit because it is reliable and hassle free.

I use a dell inspiron 8100 which is fantastic for games (but don't tell my boss ;-))

Also been given a Sony VAIO with ATI Radeon 7500 chipset, haven't benchmarked that yet but it should be quicker than the NVidia chipset.

I have a Fujitsu Loox-T which is the Japanese equivalent of the Lifebook P2020. It's excellent. I've given a kindof review on my page at www.otway.com/loox-t. There's also links to other Lifebook pages.

IIWY, I'd consider importing one of these from the US:

http://www.fujitsu.ca/products/noteb...6_2040a_b.html

$1799, which would come out at about the right price in sterling, and there's no duty to pay on importing computers or peripherals. Check the spec - it's a superb machine. :-)

Cool

I think I already answered that.

Your best bet is to buy from the US (fujitsu.com - or see my link above). Then you pay pounds-for-dollars, and get a more advanced machine than's available in the UK.

Only problem is that I think they only accept payment with a US credit card, but if you know anyone in the states, that ceases to be a problem.

buyalifebook web site and click the model, and the "Click here to buy now" link.

They are sold thru a reseller, Nice PC. Failing that, mail WillieF, i am sure he can sort it out.
