Default external memory suggestions

Wifee is starting to gather an awful lot of resources on her work PC. Trouble is she's changing jobs but would like to keep the resources on some sort of external memory so it can be easily accessed again in the future.

It needs to be compatible with Windows software (her work computer) and also (if possible) be compatible with our Apple iMac home computer.
Needs to be portable and not too expensive.

So what would you suggest and why?

Do you mean a USB stick or extenal hard drive?

Volume of data (and cost to a certain extent) will determine which to opt for.

you can buy a 2.5 USB drive enclosure for about £10, buy a sata 2.5 drive, or solid state drive if you really want and fit one into the other. Alternative is just buy a USB stick and copy what you need onto it. Depending on the nature of the data, you may want to consider an ironkey or safestick to protect the data 'at rest'.

I would be careful though, employers take a dim view of their data walking off on removable media, you may find USB access has been revoked on her work computer for this reason.
