Default Can I maintain cable desktop and wireless laptop at same time?

I'm currently thinking of moving into the 21st Century, I currently have a broadband internet connection through my phone line to my desktop PC. I will be purchasing a laptop soon which will have a wireless connection through the same account with Virgin.

What equipment do I need to maintain both connections?

Do I need to convert my desktop to wirless to make it work?

Is it as simple as buying any wireless router?

Thanks, its all so confusing!

Surely you already have a cable to the PC now

If you've optic broadband available you may as well get a package and you'll get a router included
I'm on virgin and 12 year old desktop as you and bought own router for laptop/tab , this was even before realised never likley get faster broadband
I'm leaving virgin tho, much cheaper out there

As you're with Virgin (phoneline - National Broadband service), I'm surprised you don't already have a wireless router that can do both................

4 wired outlets + wireless........

If not maybe you should ask about an upgrade.........................

wireless router will do both and you can buy a wireless dongle for your desktop if you want to
