Try http://maps.google.com it's still working and I'm sure Google will release an app soon though expect advertisements. I'm super happy with the new maps, spent hours on there last night and used it for navigation 3 or 4 times this week, that's a whole lot more than before iOS6. Win.

I was just syaing last week what will be the major **** up in IOS6 as Apple usually make one big gaff for each of their products.
Seems the maps is it this time!
No worries though as the disciples will defend it and pretend all is well with the world even if it is probably located in a different solar system according to Apple's maps

People fear change and maps is a major and very visible one. Each release people find something to moan about, the most visible moaning is by people who don't even have an iPhone, same every time.
If I was a HGV driver I'd be buying a HGV version of TomTom, relying on the iPhone for professional driving is probably not a great choice.

Jack,
I haven't read one report from any reputable professional source that states they are "super happy" about the new maps. Quite the opposite from what I have seen. The functionality of available data is apparantly no where near up to Google. If this is the case and someone relies on that Google functionality, then the comments are indeed substantiated. You are allowed to saw something is not very good, even if it does come from Apple.
The maps don't bother me as I rarely use them.
Looking at the on-line buzz, it does appear to be a general concensus that the lastest phone and OS have kept it at the top of the pile for the masses........ but then I don't have any problems with my 4 at the moment.
Supply seems to be fairly good so if I can pick one up tomorrow I will.

I see more benefit than gain. Google map data is still there at maps.google.com. I get to use integrated turn by turn directions and peruse a growing number of cities in stunning 3d. Win, Win.

PS anyone that puts all their trust in a satnav be it a truck one or not is very foolish, my Tom Tom is last on a list of tools I use to plan a route, it's more used for an approximate ETA

Just looking at the new maps on my updated 3GS.
Under iOS 5's maps app, and using maps.google.ca, it will pinpoint my location to very close to where I am (find my iPhone also pinpoints my devices using that to the same location).
Under iOS 6's maps, it's off by about 0.5 KM north-east of where I am.
The GPS location side of things should be the same as it's the same hardware, so I would assume therefore it's a software issue, either with the GPS code, or, more likely, the mapping software.
I have reported the issue, so it's not as if I'm banging on about it without having done anything.
