I use putty quite a bit when using freenas, as it talks to the PC vis this,
SSH is just the connection method afaik, to fing out the correct ip just ping the item you want tofr a response.
Make sure your firewallls arnt blocking the pings

You could also try entering appletv.local rather than the IP address as I believe they tend to register this as their DNS name. Unless you have reconfigured things, it should be using the default port of 22 for SSH.
If you are wanting to upload / download things then you could use cyberduck (FTP client), that's of course if FTP is enabled on the ATV.

Yes, you use appletv.local instead of the IP. It's basically the DNS name of the device, which should resolve to the actual IP address it has.

I use WINSCP (and Putty) to transfer files to the Apple TV.
Did you go to Network settings and confirm you are trying to connect to the right IP address?
Depending on the repository you can also do it this way: http://www.xbmchub.com/blog/2012/04/...tion-for-xbmc/

I think there must be a problem with my system as I've just followed that link that you gave me boxst, followed, installed a repository all ok, and when I try and load the channel up it has a connection error and won't connect.
