Ipad Newbie. Need help converting AVI video files & also best sim deal?
How do I do this? When I've searched online its points me in the direction of having to pay for programs that will let me do it.
The salesman told it wasn't hard, you could adjust the quality to make the files smaller etc. I presumed he meant within Itunes, but I can't seem to see where to go.
Who do people use for there sims for the ipad?

I use Aceplayer
http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/acepl...463242636?mt=8
if my NAS can handle it, AcePlayer can play it.
and for data try GiffGaff https://giffgaff.com/orders/affiliate/xrs

Wish I hadn't paid the extra £80 for the 4g bit now :<
Giff Gaff for £5 looks good. I got a three network 3gb 90 day allowance for £12 so I'll give that a go first.
Do the vids take a long time to convert then without one of these £2 programs? I'm just doing a full charge on the ipad before I plug it into the laptop to convert.

Have a look at handbrake. It's free and has specific options to convert files into a format that iPads can handle (m4v). It's multi-platform too.
Basically you'd convert the AVI to m4v on your computer and then simply drop it into iTunes and sync it across. How long it takes to convert depends on size of file and performance of the machine.

I use BuzzPlayer (and VLC but that seems to be discontinued). With regards to SIM, I use a pre-paid card from '3' bought from Amazon or eBay for around £11. This contains 3months and/or 3gb. It expires whatever comes first.
