Front audio not working
On my PC, I have a front jack for mic and headphones, but they don't work. They are physically connected to the mother board, and the two USB ports on the same panel work.
In playback devices, it says the device is working properly, but there is nothing plugged in to, but there is. No matter what headphones I plug in to it, it thinks nothing is there.
All the rear jacks work fine, but I want to be ab;e to use the fronts for headphones and mic for Skype etc. It's doing my head in! Any ideas? It's Windows 7.

Check sound / speakers in control panels, see if there are any options regarding muting the front input/output.
Try grabbing the latest driver for the sound card and see if that makes a difference, perhaps it is using the built in Windows drivers which might not enable all functionality.

Hi Markus, thanks for the quick reply. I can't see anything in there for muting them. As for drivers, the option to update or roll back the drivers is also greyed out. I'm sure I had tried to update them previously and it said it had the most up to date ones (but I could be wrong!)
The sound is on board sound, not a separate card (which is disappointing as this seems to be a common problem with Real Sound cards, easily fixed!)
I'll see if I can update the sound drivers for the on board.

So you have done the control panel, hardware and sound, manage audio devices?
If not try that, your other way is control panel, hardware and sound, view devices and printers, should show any issues in there if it finds them click on the device that is faulty and you can troubleshoot it from the top menu.
You could also try reloading the device drivers on the mobo cd.
