Default Met police e-crime virus

Anyone had this and been able to remove it?
Went on laptop to look at my email as I'm waiting on some tickets and this popped up and now the laptop doesn't load the desktop up just get the met police page virus.
I have virgin media security but that didn't pick up anything. Is there a way of removing it in safe mode bearing in mind I'll need help as I'm not to clever on computers?
Cheers,
James

Hi James

try download combofix from this link

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/down...virus/combofix

or try Malwarebytes

http://www.malwarebytes.org/

I would recommend both programs run in safe mode

Cheers Jura, I'll give it a go. It's a bit strange as I can log in on a different user and it works fine.

Two things....

It a scam

boot into safe mode, and run malwarebytes

that should spot it and enable you to zap it..

i had it... it was some xxxxx.exe file in my startup list...

once killed it was gone

As above you can download with Safe mode with networking.

Please download Malwarebytes and too Combofix and run both in Safe Mode.

I ended up having to do a system restore as it wouldn't even start up in safe mode just a black screen.
I then downloaded malwarebytes and that picked up a trojan hbo ??? and some worms ??? so deleted them.
All seems ok ok now, Thanks for all your help!!
Cheers,
James
