OK, following on from my previous thread where my computer deleted BOTH my printers and switched off the print spooler overnight...

I've re-installed both.
The Laserjet went straight on and works.

The Canon needed drivers off the internet, then wouldn't install them, it kept saying "print spooler not running".

I found the print spooler, but it refused to open: it flashed up, then closed before I could even SEE it properly.
Managed to get it to open via admin, and told it to start.

It did, the printer worked and printed.

But when the printer was switched OFF again, the print spooler had to be restarted AGAIN.
It IS set to "automatic" but doesn't appear to want to either start, or keep running.

Anyone any advice?

That seems to have done it. It now recognises both printers.

I'd LOVE to know what made it delete both overnight, and stop the print spooler running.


Before today I'd never even HEARD of a print spooler
