Default Know much about laptops?

Hi,
In the last few days the very top of my laptop screen has started flickering. If you move the screen up or down its been dissapearing, but its getting really frequent now and every so often the entire screen fades white until the screen is moved again - seems to be getting worse. If i plug it into my TV there is no flickering at all on the display which makes me think its purely the screen or connection. Any idea's (apart from taking it to be repaired as i'd like to avoid if poss - just out of warranty).

LCD cable is knackered; it happened to mine a few weeks ago - though it usually affects the entire display, not just a part of it. It's a straightforward enough repair if you're handy with a set of miniature screwdrivers and are confident handling computer parts.

Yeah sounds like the ribbon cable that feeds the monitor is getting damaged
