Ipad screen smashed
My 1 year old Son has picked my ipad up tonight and smashed it on the floor badly cracking the glass and denting the bezel I'm that hacked off i'm not even watching the footie that i've been waiting months to see.
I called the Apple store and they want £199 to replace the entire ipad which is too much money for me so what other options are there? Can the glass be replaced?

Well just checked on line and it is still under warranty (the person on the phone didn't take any details as they were too busy so just gave me an estimated cost of replacement). I may have to try just going in the store and see if I get a generous assistant otherwise yes my Son is going to be in my bad books for a while.

No accidental cover on home insurance plus they'd only get it back off you with increased premiums/ncd lost blah blah blah as well as the excess to pay.
Local mobile phone shop want £70 for replacing the glass but dubious as to how good it will be.
Went to an Apple shop appointment and they stood firm on the £199 saying it's a sealed unit can't be repaired etc which everyone knows is boll0cks so just walked out.

I've just watched a youtube video of an ipad being taken apart and what a doddle! 3 ribbons to unclip from the motherboard once the screen is prized off and then 8 torx screws to separate the digitizer from the screen. Apple are a bunch of robbing barstewards saying it's not repairable, utter liars.

I'm taking it to the local mobile phone repair shop tomorrow as they've done loads and I don't want to risk ebay with getting my own screen. It's only £30 more to pay the shop to do it.
