I've done it in a Macbook - don't forget to sort out your startup disk configuration as otherwise you'll be scratching your head (I didn't realise I had to do this and wondered why my system slowed down!!)

In the end my boot up from power to useable state went from about 50 seconds to 8/9 seconds - best upgrade ever !!!

Mine was a late 2008 Aluminium Macbook

As above - see what max speed your bus supports - either way you'll get a big speed increase but it may be limited to your bus.

it says revision 0009 on the SSD, so that's a worry sorted out.

I will be installing from scratch - my girlfriend was using it and it's got subversion, apache and all sorts of web crap on it.

i shall install a fresh copy of Lion on it.

The 0309 firmware fixes a problem when the drive stops working after 5,000 hours. The 0009 version gives a big performance increase

Easy to do either burn on to dvd or USB

It's one of the best upgrades you can do, a long with more RAM, to revitalise an old laptop/PC. My old 5 year old laptop has a 60GB Intel G2 SSD and it flies!
