I did wonder if there were any combined homeplug and plug socket type devices. I've got a few netgear homeplugs and they are rather good, bit bulky, but at least they do have a pass-through power socket on them so it's not completely taking the socket over.

It would be great to retrofit existing sockets with these new ones and essentially wire up the whole house without having to totally rewire things.

um, this is nothign new, you can already do it with your existing power ring main.

Looks nice, shame its only 200Mb, which is ok unless you move large files around your network.

Pretty much what I was going to say, as the speed of these things seem to double every few years I'd rather use the plug in jobbies than having something hardwired like that (I know it doesn't take 5 mins to change over a socket but still hassle). Too expensive too....

Might not be new as PowerLine has been around for sometime but it's the best looking setup I've seen

We've just moved into a new build and I got the builder to run Cat 6 cabling to several rooms in the house and it's great for streaming blu-rays etc
