Can you jail brake this version?

i am running 4.3.3 at the moment, would like to upgrade to see if any new features are any good with the new firmware..

Anyone?

Yes you can. Untethered Jailbreak for all devices.

Version 5 is great for the notifications and iMessage (free (well, uses data) text messaging between iPhone users)

Possibly, but I just want something built in not that others including my technophobe wife have to install.

You go to send an SMS and it realises the person has an iPhone and automatically converts it to an iMessage. You can also send iMessages from your iPad. Very cool.

iMessage is easy to use, just works automatically no setting up to do at all, I'm not sure it's as good as blackberry messenger but as a text message system it's pretty much faultless.
I only say its not as good as bbm as used to have some great group discussions on it.

make sure if you have jb 4.3 then when you restore you need the latest itunes or you get errors,
