Decent Gaming Headphones for PS3
Ive had my old seinheisses (HD560's I think) for years as they sound great and are very comfortable to wear totally enclosing the ear to block out other sounds and nicely padded. They are finally starting to fall apart after 10yrs + of gaming so Im on the lookout for a replacement preferably with a mic. Currently for voip comms in games I just use the standard PS3 bluetooth earpiece which is ok sound wise but not that comfortable to wear for extended periods and of course it isnt designed to be used with headphones so is a bit cumbersome.
I guess Id stick with Sennheiser due to past experience and the 350/360 gaming headsets are the obvious choice. It just worries me when I see people saying the dont compare to the sound quality of the standard Hifi Headphones (ie not gaming specific). But I guess a small drop in sound quality is ok if I get a crystal clear mic that I can use with ease as makes a big difference on Battlefield 3 to be able to speak to your team.
Anyone use either of these headsets and could comment?
Cheers
Simon

Have a set of those on my PC, IF they fit the PS3 then I recommend them, they are great for the money, extremely comfortable and great sound.

Cheers. Looking for something a more upmarket though.
Have noticed that the PC headsets have 2x3.5mm jacks one for mic and one for sound which wont work with PS3 so I might be limited for options due to that.

I've got X41's which are excellent but they are Xbox only.
This set are the better apparently and work on both platforms as well as PC and includes bluetooth.

Edit: Just remembered they have presets that can increase certain sounds: Explosions, Footsteps etc

Those headphones give a sound that would embarass headsets costing 3 times as much, and the mic is like being in the same room, it is that good.

I'm looking at the moment myself. The crazy thing is you have to plug into the USB then (using the crappy old ps3 leads as well as your hdmi) you have to intercept the RCA leads to the tv for sound!
I did find a little plug in usb sound card on eBay which converts USB to two 3.5mm jacks but I'm not sure this would help?
Seems crazy to me to have the extra RCA leads trailing to the tv.

You can use an adaptor for the headphones so that they go to the PS3, XJacker does on for Xbox, this might even fit your PS3.
You can then use the USB adaptor that comes with some other headphones to USB the mic input.
The detail is here in this thread.
