iphone carrier problem

Default iphone carrier problem

hi got an iphone 4 as an upgrade today but when i put the sim in it its saying only compatible sim cards from supported carrier may be used to activate iphone please insert the sim that came with your iphone or visit a supported carriers store so im thinking the phone is locked to another carrier but i got it direct from vodafone and i have put the sim in my daughters iphone and it works in her just keeps saying no service when i put it back in the upgrade one anyone any ideas

try connecting the handset to itunes without the sim card in and see if it registers. If not you can perform a soft reset by holding the power button and the button on the front of the handset and it should reboot.

I gather they gave you a new 3g micro sim? if so has the sim been activated as when i do changes of sim for customers they are sent out inactive in case they get lost in transit.

Yes gave me new sim activated it the said it would take 15 mins it still said no service so i put it in my daughters iphone and it worked put hers in mine and it say what i put above and both sims are voda could it be the fone is locked to another provider cheers

tried without the sim iphone wont register

what i cant get then is why have vodafone sent me out an iphone with another providers network

it can happen quite easy, i sometimes get hansets delivered from the supplier that are locked to O2. I would contact them when open or if it was from Voda you can go into any shop to rectify the issue.

Thanks barty for your help i foned vodafone this morning they have unlocked it cheers
