Chaps - anyone know of a utility or script to display the size of a folder in NT. I have 550 directory tree and need to know the size of each folder.

Dir /s > file.txt is no use as the output is massive as it lists all files. I can also do a script which writes a text file for each directory, but I still get 550 files.

I used to have something that did this but can't remember its name.

Cheers

FJ

VB

Dim FSO, FSOf
Dim strthisfolder$
strthisfolder = "c:\winnt"
Set FSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
Set FSOf = FSO.GetFolder(strthisfolder)
MsgBox "Size of " & strthisfolder & " is " & FormatNumber(Round(FSOf.Size / 1024, 1), 0) & " KBytes"

You could try this, if you didn't want to hack VB code.

You could always use the "diruse" command from the NT reskit.I use it here with a couple of switches and it works perfectly. Can even run it into Excel and then start to filter stuff.......
Here's a sample of what can be achieved:

Size (mb) Files Directory
107.47 3 SUB-TOTAL: C:\WIN 2000 ETC\Ghost 7.0
3.45 2 SUB-TOTAL: C:\WIN 2000 ETC\NAV Information
0.56 12 SUB-TOTAL: C:\WIN 2000 ETC\Sysprep_Update
13.38 46 SUB-TOTAL: C:\WIN 2000 ETC\Training
0.24 2 SUB-TOTAL: C:\WIN 2000 ETC\Wininfo
125.10 65 TOTAL

Does this help?

You can even run checks on unc paths too!!!!!

Good luck!

Nick
