Any sub £700 laptops that can take 16gb ram?
After the fiasco with my Dell XPS and it only taking 8gb when Dell told me it would take 16gb before I ordered it i've just managed to sell it on for pretty much what I paid for it.
So what laptops are there sub £700 that are quad core and can take 16gb ram (must be intel not amd)?

Assuming your definition of quad-core includes dual physical core machines with both cores hyper-threaded, this Asus looks like it fits the bill, at well under that price:

Just to clarify, has to be able to take 16gb of ram. You can buy 4gb ddr3 ram for £20 a slot so not expensive in the scheme of things (compared to server ram!).
As for quad core i'm looking at Sandybridge i7. I paid £747 for my 17" XPS i7 Sandybridge with 3gb Nvidia card but it turned out it could only take 8gb ram when Dell said it could take 16gb.
So happy to drop to a 15" screen and no dedicated video card if it means I can still get i7 and 16gb supported ram.
Alternatively I need to find an affordable quad core server that can take 16gb ram, my ML115 G5 can only take 8gb. Problem is that was dirt cheap (cost me about £350 in total with 8gb ram and 1tb of storage) but to step up to a server that can take 16gb ram seems the price goes extortionate.

Virtualisation - I run a lot of vms and 16gb would make things a lot better than being limited to the 8gb I am currently restricted to.

Looks like my best bet will be Dell Outlet - can get what I had plus the 3d screen (so has max of 16gb ram) for the same money I just sold my non 3d one for.

Can it take more than 8gb though? 2 slots would normally indicate a maximum of 8gb ram - slots in laptops don't usually take more than 4gb per slot.
