Sony NW E3 Mp3 Anyone Tried

But at £100 or so a piece - how many memory sticks will you buy ?
I went through this thought process and decided that I wanted the smallest unit I could get and would only ever use it for an hour or so at a time, so for the time it takes to download something different fixed 64Mb would be OK and it has been fine.

Scooby Regular
Does anyone know if you can get MP3 players that use SmartMedia memory cards??
My Fuji Digicam uses these, so would be great if you could at least share memory cards between different devices.
If only the digicam would play MP3's

A 128MB Memory Stick is £80 all in.
That said, 160 minutes of music on the supplied one will be enough. I want it mainly for using down the gym, so I can upload some different tracks when I get home.

Ahh..
Am I right in thinking the MagicGate is the SDMI compliant Memory Sticks? Hence are different to a bog standard Memory Stick?

mods: banner ad coming w/c 20/5 - honest!
Check out the MPIO DMK128Mb and DMG128Mb at www.digitalway.co.kr
The DMG is really sweet as it has 128Mb on board, can be expanded with 128Mb SMC *and* supports WMA. DigitalWay are the world's largest producer of MP3 players and the DMG is Japan's best-selling unit.
I'm finalising the launch of a retail venture that's going to be offering these at sensible money (c. £100 less than the equivalent Sonys). You'll be seeing a banner ad in a few weeks once the site's ready. I'll have stock early next week. Feel free to email me away from the bbs if interested.
Cheers
Lee.

I've got the NS-MW7 (original 64MB Memory stick walkman) which I used all the time when travelling. Just used to keep about 5GB of music on my laptop and copy a random top-twenty selection to the MP3 every few days.
Then I stopped using it. Why you ask?
Because I won another NS-MW7 in a work competition!
So if anyone's interested in making me an offer for the original one (boxed with software and carrying pouch + better headphones than standard) let me know offline.

12Lee,
I'm interested but not much on that site about them (unless I'm looking in the wrong place).
Half the attraction of the Sony is the shiney gadget factor though I'm a sucker for toys
Jack, YGM BTW

Sorry, I was being a plonker.
The site's www.digitalway.co.kr
DMK has shiny object gadget appeal. 128Mb in a lipstick-sized package. DMG is ~6cm square x 1.5cm thick. All are available in (this year's gadget colour) silver, blue and gold.
Interested to hear opinions on these products prior to launch.
Cheers

DMK looks tiny and ace. I presume the web site hasn't been updated to mention the 128MB version?
Is the software supplied well known off the shelf or custom written?
Can you clarify this...
Internal Built Memory: 32/64/128 MB Flash Memory
External Memory Expansion: Smart Media Card (SSFDC)
So you always have 128MB on board but can supplement this with a SM card? Any details on the maximum memory supported? Are the upgrades the bog standard Smart Media cards (ie cheap) or the fancy secure ones (expensive).
Cheers,
Chris.

w.r.t. DMK128Mb - yup - their site doesn't mention it but it exists!
It's supplied with their own DMK Manager software - a Windows Explorer-type shell browser. With this app, the DMK appears as another storage device to which you can drag and drop files.
"Internal Built Memory: 32/64/128 MB Flash Memory
External Memory Expansion: Smart Media Card (SSFDC)"
This is an error on their site and relates to DMG, not DMK. DMK is 128Mb internal, no expansion. DMG is 128Mb internal and up to 128Mb expansion on (cheap) SMC.
w.r.t. price... we'll be retailing DMK128 at around £149 inc VAT and DMG128 at around £169 inc VAT with SMCs at dabs.com money. The shop, and our banner, will be up w/c 20/5 but I'll be able to fulfil beta tester's needs (!) late next week.
Here are cnet's reviews of the DMK and DMG.
Cheers
