Any ideas of what TCP / UDP ports need to be open for this to work?
Sonic Wall Pro 100. PC inside the private LAN needs has an Access DB which connects to a SQL DB on a remote server. AFAIK, the Access DB has linked tables to the SQL server - I presume that's ODBC or does it use DAO?
Gotta be the Sonic as if you move a PC outside the firewall, it works 1st time.
Yes, probably not the best way to do things in terms of security etc but that bit is nothing to do with us.
TIA,
Chris.

sql server 7 port 1433 as default but you can change it to any... to test telnet to box on port 1433 and use isql to test..
isql -Uusername -Ppassword -Sserver
David
edited to add it depends how you link the tables if you do new linked table, go to the bottom of the list and pick odbc.. so yeah odbc for linked tables... check your dsn is using tcpip not named pipes or other protocols, as that will require too much effort to go through firewall, compared to opening up a port...
