Question Mac Lion - What printer?

Having bought an HP printer I have been reasonably pleased with the print quality but have two issues:

The HP drivers NEVER printed the border correctly - it always cropped it badly on 6x4 prints. And now the facilities just don't work with Lion - really basic drivers, cannot get photo quality prints anymore.

And there is no scanner facility at all now.

So what printer does docs, photos and scanning and is truly integrated with Lion?

Checked for new drivers? A few have been updated.

To be honest the HP range (the e range) is very well supported by Lion and macs and ipads/iphones etc. Epson used to be the king for Mac support and the latest ones all do, however since Epson are complete ******* when it comes to fobbing off users with crap chips lying about ink levels etc.

So my favourite has always been Canon. Love their printers

The HP is not well supported by Lion.

They will work but I am not aware of any that can be optimised. 90% of the HP software bundle said it won't work as Lion does not support Power PC.

There is a generic HP driver release 2.7 but this has no facility and cannot optimise prints.

All in all a bad job between HP and Apple not being ready for the market.

And I am equally stuck with the same issues with the scanner

I have an HP Photosmart C7280 and it appears to be quite happily working with Lion. I can scan using Preview.app (File -> Import from Scanner -> Include Network Scanners, then File -> Import from Scanner -> Photosmart C7200 Series). It is connected using ethernet, rather than USB, but if Preview can see the printer then it should, in theory, be able to see the scanner.

You could have a look here to see the support for your printer, and what other printers are compatible with lion

I can do a basic scan to .jpg - but I cannot adjust definition and don't be able to do multiple scans and then output as a PDF for example.

I'm using a Kodak ESP series printer. Works spot on with Lion

Had a HP printer previously and the ink quality was at best iffy. Plus it was damn expensive to buy ink for. Good riddance to that one!

Not tried every part of it yet, but we're using our HP Officejet 6310.

As it's in our work, I won't be able to tell you how it is with prints, but documents aren't an issue and I have seen how to scan, so can't imagine that's going to be an issue.
