Default Ripping DVD's to HDD

Whats the best way/and program to use to do this?

As i'm mainly doing this so the girlfriend has access to all her DVD's (such as Friends boxset) is there a way of doing it that retains all the menu's etc?

PS. I want to stream the DVD's to my Xbox360 and my new blu-ray player when it arrives if this makes any difference on how it should be done.

I use CloneDVD, has a very simple interface. Just select movie elements wanted, like main movie, no extras. Select languages and rip.

What sort of file does Clone save the movie as?

I've tried Handbrake on my computer but its just too resource hungry on my PC and didn't work well.

I downloaded a program as recommended by a friend called Daemon Tool lite and it worked grand at ripping the DVD in very quick time but it saved it as a .MDX file, which i've never heard of.....do i need to convert this file to anything else to work on my xbox360?

Sorry for the stupid questions, this is just very new to me.

Saves it as an ISO. Then you can use MagicDisc (free) or similar Daemon Tools to mount the image. It then plays as if the DVD were inserted. It works for me as my media player (AC Ryan) recognises and plays ISOs too.

No, had mine for over a year now i'd say. Are you running moviesheets (thumbgen) and what f/w you on? I tried Mede8ter, but went back to ACR.

On-topic:

What software would you use for ripping Blu-Rays? I notice Slysoft don't do a CloneBD or similar.
