Default Playstation 3 HELP !!!

Hi all

was just wondering does anyone know how to play a mkv format video on the playstation 3 as i have downloaded jackass 3.5 but cant seem to play it


anyone know or do i need to get some software to transfer it into a avi format to play it ?

I use TVersity (free) on the laptop and stream mkv files to the PS3. Not found an easier way of getting MKV files to the PS3.

I couldn't find a good way of doing it so I had to stream it from my computer instead.

ok i will try that then

isit easy to stream it to the ps3 ?

im also trying avs video converter to convert the mkv file into either .vob or . avi file so it works on the ps3 will let u know if it works ok

You have to convert it unless you want to mess around installing a streamer such as TVersity (As mentioned above).

mkv2vob software is a pretty good, free, converter.

as above, the best way to view is to stream the content using TVersity / Twonkymedia or similar.

I tried streaming from a laptop using windows 7 but the ps3 still didn`t recognise the mkv file

You need to convert the mkv before you stream it, unless you have a streamer (server) that can convert them on-the-fly..... there are some that can, as the mkv is usually only a container file that houses an MP4/mpg file

i got a problem i converted the mkv file into AVI format using a program called avs video converter . copied the file onto usb then plugged into the playstation 3 ... th eporoblem is the video works but theres no sound to the video . but when i play the avi file on the pc the sound works fine ... im confussed becuase i have done several other films and they work perfect with video and sound just not this one

LIFE saver it works cheers bud !
CONVERT TO mkv to vob then copy to usb then put on my 1tb hardriv eon the ps3 love it works a treat cheers dude
