I love my iPad
So I finally succumbed to getting an iPad 2 to see what the fuss was all about. As my friends tell me it is a perfect device that has everything except a valid use-case!!
To be honest when I first got it my thoughts were, what shall I use it for.
Ever since I barely put it down. I have read more newspapers and research than I have done in ages. Used it for movies and games when on long journeys. Use it for this. Use it for most of my long distance calls to the US using Skype.
Here is the biggest thing - when I got it I thought it would be a like a big clumsy iPhone. Now i think the size if just right and that my iPhone seems small and fiddly.
So a device with no rationale at all seems to do the job near perfectly!! And my MacBook is mostly quiet. Just the odd task that the iPad cannot do!!

Hi Trout - I really know nothing about ipods/ipads - infact anything with an 'i' in front of it I'm looking at getting a new laptop for home, I just need it for digital banking, the odd bit of surfing on the net, etc.. Do these ipads do pretty much this???

I've had my iPad over 6 months and I've consumed just about everything, media wise. videos, magazines, rss feeds, financial times, economist, etc.
i realized the other day, i haven't read a book since i got it.
my new favourite device is my sony PRS350 eReader that fits in my suit pocket. the ipad is still used, but has been home bound for the last few weeks whilst i read some books.

I have the iPhone4 and my boy has the iPad2, personally I think it's a marvellous piece of tech but I am still fond of the iPhone (probably because it's mine and I don't have to "borrow" it).
Anyone tried the app "Djay"? Used to be £5.99, now 59p for iPhone/iPod Touch, not sure how much for the iPad version but it's a belting DJ app

PC = Internet and Email
Mobile Phone = Phone calls and texting.
Every time upgrade time comes around for my mobile they try and convince me that i need a touch screen phone that i can put apps on. Don't want fecking touch screen - leave me happily in the past

I hate to upset you but the iPad is not a phone (although it can used as one).
And if all you do is email and internet, then it would be perfect for you.
As for not wanting any apps, either you are being deliberately optuse or you live a very narrow life. You may not need them, but there are so many potential apps out there.
All that and the madness of Infinity Blade!!!

Maybe i should have a bash on one. Spose if i don't try i don't know. I'm very anti touch screen though I likes me buttons
I still for the life of me can't think of an app that would improve my existence - i guess i'm very narrow
