Default BT Infinity being installed today :)

I'm currently with BE Unlimited and reside about 2 miles from the exchange.

This is my current speed:

Looking forward to the new results!

Which package?

Be careful if it's not the unlimited one as you could easily go over and get charged ~£5 per Gb....

Liking mine as I can now host games while the missus is on the other xbox

400gb is BT's "unlimited" fair usage cap.

I've had FTTC a while now and it's ace Before I had a flakey 3 to 4Mbps ADSL.

The router can make a big difference to performance..

Direct into the VDSL modem:

Zyxel NBG-460N (with a Gigabit WAN port - hah!)

I'm currently using a NetGear DGFV338 which was in the cupboard at work, so I borrowed it for field trials

Not bad for an 8Mb connection. I pay just £18 per month which includes line rental and is unlimited too. Very happy:

I see between 30 and 40 on mine, best of 41 !

Waste of time unless you use Ethernet cables, Wifi doesnt do it justice, neither do homeplugs.

Why doesn't Wi-Fi do it justice?

Are you sure the laptop has an 'N' adaptor?

I get full 50meg on mine.

But I am using an old Dell D610 for surfing duties so it may be quite an old adaptor.

Vodafone 8 Meg Unlimited - test done on Wifi (still in bed so I'm not getting up to plug it in )

Changed my server location to one further away - Ping got better, but download got worse. Must be due to the wireless signal being weaker

I notice that with the Virgin results, you get a really poor upload speed in relation to the download - that is really naff.

Also, how is the contention on Virgin? - I heard it was awful

It seems they've enabled BTFON by default which is a bit naughty.

Not sure if I'll find the wifi hotspot's useful.

Does anyone know if it'll impact severely on performance?

I don't know to be honest. Go and switch it off in the hub manager. I'm sure you can?

They only use the bandwidth if you subscribe to it

Had Infinity for 3 months now (unlimited). Went over 320GB for first 2 months but FUP has been scrapped now.
