Borked a Mac firmware :-(
Hi All,
Slight problem with a test Mac we have in our Dev room. The Mac is a 20" Aluminium iMac.
I had just built a new Deploy Studio server and was running tests on it.
I set up a workflow and the last part was to set a firmware password. The new DS gives you two options......startup options and full security. I clicked on full security and saved the workflow.
The workflow did it's thing and the Mac rebooted. Now however, the Mac will not boot at all and pops up with the question mark when it boots.
No key combos will work, target disk, left alt key to select boot options, boot from CD etc.
I have tried leaving it unplugged then holding the power down and PRAM reset also however it will only display the question mark on boot up.
Further investigation on DS says full firmware security will require a boot password to boot however not all Macs support this. I think this Mac didn't support it and has now borked. I have not tried any physical changes yet but was wondering if anyone knows a way to get the firmware back on this type of Mac?
Mike
