Default i-Mac Memory upgrade

Hi All

My MD uses an i-Mac whereas we all use windows machines. Anyway to cut along story short I want to fit more memory in it.

It currently has fitted 2 x 1GB DDR2 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.

He doesn't actually use the mac side just xp on it. Is the max 4GB and at the above speed only or can I fit anything faster?

Its an i-Mac 7.1.

Thanks.

It depends how old the Mac is but I think that 667MHz is the fastest you can get in one of those. This thread on the Mac support forums might help:

If you're running 32 bit XP, I wouldn't bother. It can't address much more memory than you already have in anyway; although people suggest it will take 4GB, in the machines I've used it I've found it settles nearer the 3GB mark.

It was purchased in Sept 07.

I thought XP 32 bit could support up to 4GB?
