Web filtering bypass...?
Up until a few months ago our web access at work was pretty much unrestricted, we were all sensible about it and didn't abuse it. Looking at **** etc. could lead to an instant dismissal anyway so we knew to keep that sort of stuff for home use
So the IT department presumably under instruction of the top management decides to inflict this OpenDNS web filtering software on us. For the most part it doesn't bother me as I can do without Facebook etc. at work, however what is useful to to be able to check Hotmail/GoogleMail on odd occasions but it's now blocked. SNet still works thankfully
Anyway figured out that it was easy to bypass by just temporarily configuring the network connection to use a public DNS instead of the corporate one, Google's (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4) seemed to do the job. However now they seem to have implemented some sort of blacklist for most if not all public DNS IP addresses so back to square one.
Any other ideas for bypassing it? Don't really want to muck about with proxy servers though...
Most ridiculous of all is that the visitor login for the Wi-Fi has no filtering applied, only problem is the Internet is a bit cr*p on my phone. Might just need a USB Wi-Fi dongle for the desktop I suppose
