Default Looking to buy a domain name, which host?

This is all new to me, so keep it simple lol

Looking to buy a domain name, which is fair enough, but which host site would be the best/cheapest for a simple website. Is there differnet hosts when using a mac etc?

Also what would be the best way to make a simple website, with a couple of pictures, blurb and maybe a gallery?

Thanks for any help

Ricey

I had no experience with website and hosting and used Webeden, simple design software and no knowledge needed.

Cost me £49 for one year hosting and I got a free domain name for 2 years.

Please don't waste your money with the above. A domain from Google will cost you $10 a year and everything you need is set up ready to use.

Jack quick question.
I have a 1and1 "free" single page domain which is active, if I join google apps and point to google would this mean I could add more pages?

Buy the .com first, then add .co.uk Registration via Google is with GoDaddy.com

If someone owns the .com already, think of a new name.
