A reminder of Apples innovations
I am not sure why a company as successful or innovative as Apple still attracts a pocket of haters who blindly dislike their products without ever using them! So here are some great innovations that even if you dont use Apple products, they have influenced or changed the game. There are many more examples, but here are just 3.....
1. iPod
Although Apple's personal music player, launched in 2001, was by no means the first MP3 player, it's the one that had the most impact. The first model could only store around 1,000 songs, but the idea of being able to create playlists and shuffle through tracks felt revolutionary. Apple's iPod arguably kick-started the digital music revolution
2. First Home computer with GUI interface
Apple built on the pioneering work of the team at Xerox Parc to produce the first commercially successful computer to use a graphical user interface -- the Macintosh. The Macintosh swept aside an era of command prompts and strings of code, and instead ushered in a new dawn of accessible computing. It used a "desktop" metaphor to guide users around the computer, with documents represented as sheets of paper, and with it, helped shift computers away from scientists in the research lab in to the homes of "normal" people.
3. iPhone
The phone that defined how all other smart phones would follow, here's a reminder of how smart phones used to look before the iPhone come along

Apple's problem is their arrogance. Or, the arrogance of their CEO. He's obviously a genius but one without some other human social skills. And Apple do come up with some stunning designs. Usually 'refined' versions of what others have developed already I might add. But it's the arrogance of the company that puts me off their products.

I also stand by my original post, it was a result of the constant hating of Apple products recently on SN, my point remains...

hutton_d is the only one to have posted a reasonable counter argument

Some fair comments fivetide and far more constructive to the debate than others
But why do some people hate Apple? their products are rarely bad and there are many many other manufactures churning out poor clone after clone

Its attitude. They sold the iPod with marketing. As you say, not the first MP3 player and not even a very good one really but if you didn't have one you weren't cool. Never mind that an itune couldn't be played on a regular MP3 player meaning you were locked to Apple if your iPod broke and you didn't want to pay for all your songs again - its Apple and hey, Apple = cool.
Phone not working? You clearly aren't cool enough to hold it properly etc etc.
Also note this is a company which still owes its existence to Microsoft and Bill Gates so it is the general arrogance of it that annoys rather than the products themselves.
They certainly shifted computer design on a few years with the iMac etc so that is something they can take credit for.

Apple have made some great products, I've had a few and love them. But, like everyone else, they fail in places and it can be frustrating.
They also seem somewhat more dictatorial than others. People don't being told what to do or what they can see or buy, and Apple unfortunately think they know it all in this respect.
That's not to say that other companies don't do it, but Apple seem to do it more than most.
Great products (in some cases), poor attitude (in some cases).
