Default Jailbroken 3G....what to install?

Ok, i've just received my first jailbroken I-Phone and it has Cydie and Installous on it, but my know-how is limited when it comes to this.

I've read a lot about it all, but it's a bit of a nightmare to get my head round it all and was wondering if there is some app's i should be installing straight away?

For reference it's a 8GB model running version 4.0.1 and i haven't yet plugged it into I-Tunes.

Oh and i have a "1" on the Cydia app folder, but i don't know what it is?

Don't upgrade the firmware when you connect to iTunes get comfortable with it first before you do as it looses the jailbreak, when you feel confortable update then jailbreak

It was initially an O2 simlock, so i had to jailbreak/unlock for me to use with my Orange simcard, so i think i read there isn't an unlock procedure yet for the newest firmware? And is the newest firmware much better anyway? I cancelled the auto update of the firmware on I-Tunes.

What is X-Sellize exactly? Totally new to all this...

Connected to I-Tunes there, so currently firing all my stuff on it now.

Think i'll leave the update for now, as i'm most likely to mess something up.

Thanks for the help.

It isn't a very good unlock though: It updates the baseband to something higher than exists (the iPad one) and it isn't reversible at the moment.
