I had a zx81 for a bit, and it was pretty pointless, but the Electron I had next was great. I loved Elite!

You are totally right, but not with its function, with the vision of what would be achieved in the future. I enjoyed it for what it was, but the Electron and the BBC B really showed what could be achieved, and brought computing to the masses in schools. I saw my first BBC when I was about to leave Primary school, and that blew my mind.

Perhaps I was a little blase with my throwaway comment about it being pointless.

Don't know what model it was I just remember it being a metal spectrum with a rubber key board that I used to play "hungry Horace" on as a kid. If I remember correctly it was absolutely woeful.
