Hi there this depend which Windows you have,if you have XP,W7,Vista 32bit these OS address just 3.5GB(if you are put 2x2GB you will see just 3.5GB),and if you have XP,W7,Vista 64bit you are can put how much memory you like(or how much memory can take your motherboard).
For memory i will recommend match with existing memory, but i have good experience with Corsair and G.Skill

this is the best price i have found 2x 1bg sticks so far, and that will give me 4 gb in total of ram.

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/91124

my current spec is, and would like it to perform better when playing black ops etc. all drivers are up to date etc.

The important bit as stated earlier is are you running 32 bit xp. To check open control panel then systems. On the page it will tell you your operating system, if it does not say 64 bit then you are running the 32 bit OS and there will be no point going to 4 gb of ram as you will not use it fully. Save some money and get a 1 gb memory stick to fit.

I'd get the full 4 Gb of memory, and look to go 64-bit in the future...

Your PC will work better with equal amounts of memory "per channel".

Hi there i would recommend upgrade your GPU to at least 5770,these GPU are great and out perform 8800GTX in any game, and if you have 2xPCI-E 16x you can run 8800GTX as PhysX accelerator(i've use before 8800GTX as PhysX accelerator),and at these times are cheap...
Here is comparison and test
