Default x box hdd

hi all i have got a 4gb xbox thingy and need to stick a hdd in i have the hdd etc etc etc and can fit it but am having probs to get it to show i heard that it needs some kioind of fiddling to work ????
any 1 know a fools guide on how to do this i have googled it but nowt reaaly explaining it well

Isit the genuine HDD for the new shape xbox or have you bought an old one and removed the casing or a none Microsoft one you are trying to use?

i have the new shape hdd and am trying to fit a hdd from a laptop but i have been told u need to do somthing to make it work proper ?

Non Xbox HDD's are not compatable with any Xbox, I believe you can re format the HDD to make it work, the problem being if Microsoft get wind of it they will block your Xbox from all online services as it will be classed as a modification to the console

I know £85 for a 250 gb sata notebook hdd is expensive but the x-box hd is plug and play.
