Default eBuddy and similar apps

Sort of computer related.

Since I've started using apps on my phone for messaging such as eBuddy, I've been getting contacts added that I have not added myself. These contacts are bots and the messages they send are all the same, eventually ending with them giving you a link to some dodgy site. The conversations start normally, but it's obvious after their second reply that it is an automated message. Does anybody else get this? It's starting to get annoying. Done some googling, but can't find any info on it. Almost offended an old contact when she started to chat to me as it began the same way lol.
