You need to set a password, our SKY router came pre-set, and that's good enough for a domestic set-up.

P.S. What's it running W7 ?

If you don't have a password on your wireless network, I can join it and steal your login details for any website that starts in http://

two different things being answered here - access to the router and access to the wireless network -- both need securing

1) secure the access to your router, it will (usually) come with a default admin username and password (often admin/password) – accessible from the management web interface i.e. http://192.168.0.1

2) make sure you do not have remote management turned on – this will expose the management web interface to 10 billion internet users (4 billion of whom live in China – and will hack your router if they find it, which is easy)

3) then you have to secure the actual wireless signal – the easiest is MAC address filtering - or more advanced use WEP/WPA
